Thumb hole hem sweater
I just pulled the sleeves up to where I'd want them to stay, see where the base of my thumb is and cut there. It definitely needs to be trimmed out in some way to keep it from fraying and guard against constant wear and pulling. I personally like the raw edges but I'm not much of a sewer so I don't know what stitch you would use to fix it. If you actually want to prevent your shirt from coming further apart, get matching thread and go around the edge of the hole with a buttonhole stitch just Google buttonhole stitch. Maybe use bias tape to go around it for reinforcement or else a hem of some sort with a stretch stitch. Instructables will help you learn how to make anything! You can cut felted wool and it won't become unknit around the holes because the fabric is so tightly bonded to itself.

You can use this method to pretty much any cuff! Put one of your thumbs in the hole to further stretch it out. Grasp your chalk and make a mark approximately halfway between the beginning and the hem of the sweatshirt's cuff. Consider using a contrasting thread to add even more detail.
